G Data urges customers to upgrade to the latest software version for free

Bochum, 26. August 2009
Always on the safe side: customers of IT security company G Data can upgrade their security software to the latest version and thus benefit from the numerous technical innovations of the 2010 generation. To do so, registered customers with a valid support licence can quickly and easily download a full version of the new generation of antivirus software for free. Besides maximum security, customers can benefit from the numerous additional features that the German software manufacturer has integrated to optimise its products, and be sure of being fully protected against any malware risk.

“Generation 2010 is a compelling product, incorporating a large number of new technologies that protect computers against viruses even more effectively. Loyal G Data customers should of course benefit from these technological advances,” says Dr Dirk Hochstrate, board member of G Data Software AG. "That is why G Data decided three years ago to offer customers with valid support licences free software upgrades.”

Quick and easy: G Data’s upgrade policy -
anyone with a valid G Data licence can easily upgrade to the latest version via this link: https://www.gdata.de/support/top-themen/upgradeservice.html. Once they have installed the 2010 generation of the antivirus software, PC users can benefit from all the features and technical advantages of the new versions. Customers keep their security levels at the highest level without compromising on PC performance. But more than that, the 2010 generation sets new standards, using the latest methods of recognising unknown viruses - from using the scan server to fingerprinting and whitelisting. The redesigned interface makes this edition intuitive to use and displays all essential information at a glance. The security software also carries out its work completely automatically and in the background, absolutely invisible to the user.

For trouble-free operation, the new generation of the software requires a computer with a Windows XP SP2 operating system or one of the five versions of Windows Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate, Business, Enterprise). The free offer applies to the update download for the respective security package that the customer has already purchased. For example, a customer can update G Data InternetSecurity 2009 to InternetSecurity 2010, but not to G Data TotalCare or any other G Data product.

The free offer applies exclusively to the download of the new software. Nothing changes with regard to the customer’s respective premium support licence: this is chargeable as before and the period of validity remains unaffected. This means that anyone with a product licence that runs for another month is only contractually bound to G Data for this remaining period, even after downloading the update.
